Course Description:
In low vision rehabilitation, visual field measurement outside of standards automated perimetry protocols can provide valuable data about a patient’s condition. This knowledge can help inform decisions about safe travel as well as fall risk. This presentation covers principles of semi-automated kinetic perimetry, case examples of patients with complex visual field considerations, and a basic review of falls prevention from a visual standpoint.
Learning objectives
- To discuss the rationale and basic testing procedures for kinetic perimetry
- To review case examples and demonstrate the use and importance of far peripheral visual field testing
- To describe visual field implications for mobility, with a focus on falls
- To review field enhancement strategies in relation to mobility
