Special COVID19 Asynchronous Lecture

(1 Hour, PB)

Zachary Weber, MS

The Ohio State University College of Public Health

This course will discuss the epidemiology of SARS-Cov-2 and the associated disease COVID-19. The focus will be on the most up-to-date scientific information. This disease is unique in that everything we know of the disease is approximately 6 months old and the research landscape has been dominated by non-peer reviewed preprints. Discussion will focus on case fatality rates, reproduction rates (R0), comorbidities that confer higher risk of disease, possible routes of transmission, and the science of interventions used to limit spread. Case studies will be used to help illustrate the differing spread from observed outbreaks and epidemiological investigation.
