Our Annual Winter Conference will be held in person at the Fawcett Center at 2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43210. Parking is free, but requires a printed parking permit. This will be made available prior to the conference.

We will offer 7 hours of COPE approved CE each day along with tea and coffee in the morning and a boxed lunch in the afternoon.

To gain COPE-approved credit, attendance will be monitored for the live hours.

The cost per hour will be $30. Attendance is free for anyone with current College of Optometry faculty status. Eligible faculty should refer to a separate email to receive their promotion code.

ALL registration must be done online only and registration will close at noon on Tuesday, November 29.

NOTE: Once registered, the software will show your Winter Conference selections to be "Self-paced." Rest assured, you have successfully registered for live in-person CE for the dates you selected.

Cancellation

Cancellation requests must be received by email at CE@optometry.osu.edu or by contacting Juan Abel at 614-247-8938. For requests received by the Optometry Office of Continuing Education five (5) or more business days prior to training/event, 100 percent of your total payments will be refunded. If a refund is requested within four days of the conference, those fees will not be refunded but can be applied to a future conference for a period of up to one year. For no-calls/no-shows on the training/event date or any time after the /event begins, no refunds or transfers will be provided.

Course Materials

Those registered will receive an email with conference materials two days before the conference.

OE Tracker

We will be using the OE Tracker app to submit your completed courses to COPE. Prior to the meeting please make sure you have downloaded the app and can successfully log in. Please note that you do not need to pay the annual fee for this particular feature of the app to function.

What’s Wrong with that Cornea? *
Dr. Katie Greiner

This course will be a refresher of a multitude of conditions that can affect the 5 layers of the cornea. It will review the causes of the conditions along with their treatments, including surgical options. Pictures will help the audience identify the problem and interactive questions will keep them engaged as we explore the variety of degenerations, dystrophies, infections, and injuries that can occur.

Corneal Collagen Cross Linking for the OD *
Dr Katie Greiner

This course will review the pre-operative, surgical and post-operative path of corneal collagen crosslinking patient. It will help the audience understand when (and how) to refer a patient out for the procedure, who is/isn't a candidate, the definition of keratoconus progression and how to manage the patient post-operatively along with possible complications. We will review the steps of the procedure as approved by the FDA with epithelial off techniques and the future of cross-linking as is being studied with epithelial on options.

Prioritizing Pediatric Eye Care - What You Can Do to Help Improve Educational and Public Health Outcomes
Dr. Shane Foster and Dr. Erica Shelton

In this course, we will discuss the societal and economic constraints that limit access to quality pediatric eye care and some of the programs in place to help break down those barriers. We will also discuss practical interventions that optometrists can do in and out of the exam room to improve pediatric vision care in their communities.
